Travelling on a flight can be exhausting, no matter how long you’ve to move. But, flying in a plane can become even more hectic if you do not give up on these activities while on a flight.
1. DO NOT WEAR CONTACT LENSES
Contact lenses can make your eyes dry. And, this can damage your eyes combining the dry air inside the plane. So, make sure that you wear glasses rather than opting for contact lenses. Make sure that you accompany eye-drops with you if you have a long flight.
2. UNCLOG YOUR EARS
Due to the difference in air pressure, our ears tend to become clogged while the plane takes off or it lands. However, you should try to unclog them using these simple tricks.
# SUCKING AND SWALLOWING MOVEMENTS– For grown-ups you can use chewing gum. And, for small children, a bottle of water will work.
#CLOSE AND OPEN YOUR MOUTH – try opening and closing your mouth once in a while
# BLOW OFF YOUR EARS – breathe in and close your nose with your fingers and try to breathe out as if you are pushing the air out through your ears. However, do not perform this if you have a running nose or you’ve allergic sniffles
3. DO NOT TAKE A FLIGHT IF YOU HAVE A STUFFY NOSE
If you have a stuffy nose, make sure that you take some vasoconstrictive drops when the plane takes off or is landing. The reason behind this is a stuffy nose puts uncontrollable pressure on ears which can be detrimental to our health. But, if you have sinusitis and maxillaries, make sure that you visit a doctor and cancel your flight.
4. DO NOT SIT MOTIONLESSlY
While travelling on a plane, make sure that you do not sit still because the process of blood circulation becomes slower when in flight. And, if you sit without any movement, it increases the risk of having thrombosis. So, to avoid any such mishappening, take short walks around the cabin. Make sure that you remove your shoes when you are on a flight. Take compression shorts or tights if you face blood circulation related problems.
5. AVOID CARBONATED DRINKS
Carbonated drinks trigger gassiness. And, further gassiness is caused due to air pressure changes. It can be quite uncomfortable. Moreover, avoid taking items like apples, brown bread, beans etc. as they are flatulence-increasing products.
6. DO NOT USE REAR SEATS IF YOU HAVE MOTION SICKNESS
You should be aware that if you have motion sickness then, do not sit in the back seats as they stimulate uncomfortable feelings. Choose seats in the front. Further, do not drink alcohol or anything fatty or fried just a day before you have your flight.
7. CURB ANY ALCOHOLIC ACTIVITY
It is advisable to not go for alcohol as when you are on a plane; you tend to get drunk faster. Further, flying in an aircraft can result in dehydration. Alcohol intensifies the situation as it deteriorates the blood saturation level, making us feel drowsy! Keep the level of alcohol consumption to the minimum before and on the day of your flight. However, the best is to say no to alcohol.
8. DO NOT TOUCH SURROUNDING OBJECTS
One of the principal things which you should keep in mind is not to touch anything on the flight as it is home to a lot of bacterias. The reason being that the sanitation process does not take place after every plane and, the previous passengers must have left some or the other thing in the flight which might not be germ-free. So, next time, if you travel in a plane, ensure that you do not touch anything until and unless it is imperative.
9. DO NOT USE AIRPLANE HEADPHONES
Even though the headphones you get on the flight are cleaned and repacked and, they give them to you in a little plastic bag for your usage but, it is not possible to clean them properly. Even after all the attempts made by them to clean the headphones, it is impossible to make them clean. So, for a safer side, make sure that you take your headphones with you.
10. DO NOT GO BAREFOOT
If you are to travel on a long flight, you might take off your shoes and would prefer to stay barefoot on the plane as it can be tiring and exhausting for you. But, you should remember not to do this activity as it exposes the germs on your foot on the well-kept floors of the plane. It can be an extremely unsanitary thing to do on a flight.
11. NEVER USE PHONE ONBOARD
It might tempt you to use your phone and, click pictures while travelling in a plane. But, you must note that takeoff and landing is the most challenging situation of the flight. If you operate your phone during that time then, the signals of your device might interrupt the radio communication and the entire process of the navigation system. It might pose difficulty for the pilot to listen to the traffic controller. You should know that even when the phones are turned off, they still search for network bringing the problem as mentioned earlier. And, it is easy to keep your phones turned off for a few seconds.
